Everything want well, you might have noticed a small roundcube downtime, but otherwise there should not be any issue. If you have some issue with roundcube, please visit https://support.riseup.net, and open an issue.

We will perform some upgrades on the Roundcube infrastructure. There should not be long lasting outage, but there might be some small glitches while we reboot the web servers.

All issues should be resolved

Email is backlogged due to the outage, it is being processed in batches and will be delivered.

Power has been restored, an inventory of circuit draws and a rebalancing of circuit loads happened. Things are back to normal now, sorry for the interruption!

Someone is on-site resolving issue now. Services are starting to return to normal, but not everything is resolved yet.

Due to an overloaded circuit at our datacenter, several riseup services are currently unavailable. We will update this status information when we have an ETA.

We and other e-mail providers have been subject to a DDoS attack disrupting our services. We received an e-mail blackmailing us: if we don’t pay, they will continue to attack us. We will not pay, we can’t accept blackmail and we will do everything possible in our hands to mitigate the effects.

A distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) is an attack aiming to make one service unavailable for others, using multiple sources for the attack makes it very complex to handle. We have taken several meassures against them, and we keep improving our systems to resist them but it’s still possible to face one that can produce a disruption in our services.

In the case this happens we want to let you know the following:

There might be problems connecting to our services. Please wait a little and try again later.
There is no risk for your data.
We will keep this website (riseupstatus.net) updated
We will be also tweeting updates @riseupnet
We will be actively working to minimize as much as possible this attack and get things back to normal as soon as possible.

E-mail should be delivered as usual, we had a little problem with one of our encryption certificates.
We are currently investigating an issue with e-mail delivery. E-mail can take a little longer to be delivered.

As of today, Riseup has changed our primary certificate that we have been using since 2019.
If you were pinning a certificate fingerprint, this will no longer work.
Sometimes thunderbird gets confused and needs to be restarted!
Connecting via the onion address? Consider changing your configuration to use the non-TLS ports (port 143 for IMAP, port 110 for POP3, port 25 for SMTP) without connection security. When using onion addresses, your connection is already secure.

We found out problems with one of the internet providers we use generating the outage. We are still working on this issue but services should be going back to normal. We are and will be monitoring closely this issue.
